FlowCast and AzuraCast are distinct projects. FlowCast takes a purpose-built scheduling and playout approach; it is not affiliated with or endorsed by AzuraCast.
Compare approaches, not scorecards
FlowCast connects its control plane to a dedicated Rust playout engine through explicit station configuration. It does not put a FlowCast-generated Liquidsoap scripting layer between the scheduler and runtime.
This can reduce the number of layers an operator inspects. The trade-off is equally important: mature, script-centric ecosystems may offer broader integrations, community knowledge and general-purpose customization. Evaluate those needs against FlowCast’s focused model.
Programming and transitions
FlowCast can incorporate BPM into playlist selection and exposes fade, overlap, bridge, exit, queue and prefetch controls. Optional Pro functionality may add documented Bliss acoustic-similarity strategies. These signals supplement operator programming; they do not guarantee a particular sound.
Preview maturity
FlowCast is a Preview, not a production-grade claim. Public images may not exist for every tag and architecture. Endurance, rollback, rootless Docker, large-library performance and disaster-recovery qualification are incomplete.
